Together with artists Alfonso Valero, Julieta Hsiung, Natalia Colina, Juan Donado and Carmen Ameller, Sara Muñoz is part of a research group called Sinfín y Compañer_s, which arises from an interest in the collective and a latent intuition towards contemporary art.
During several months during 2022, meetings and collective readings began to take place in the company of different artists who accompanied the group in the investigation of numerous concepts through words and performance. Among the artists who took part in these meetings were Paloma Checa, Sara Ramo, Ana Ramo, Sandra Val, Ángela Cuadra and Quino Monje. Most of these meetings took place at Saloncito Salón, the artists' space directed by Ángela Cruadra and Daisuke Kato, and during these months the artists came into contact with new ways of understanding a social and political art that put collectivity at the center. Sinfín y Compañer_s is born in the uncertain memories, which become endless and seek a way to be transmitted.
Sinfín Lingual is a performance that proposes a new economy based on the richness of memory. It generates collective memories that do not impose a single narrative and avoid a hierarchy based on the possession of truth. The weight is in the community of the translation of these memories, and in the exchange of acquired knowledge that results in the vital experience with other people.
Through the creation of an enveloping atmosphere, personal relationships are re-negotiated to give way to new forms of communication in which the senses, beyond sight, find the possibility of knowing other memories. An experience designed for visitors to generate a link with the space and an exchange of imagination and memories from a safe place is proposed. Together with objects that fold, the performance unveils a collective fluid memory through diverse sensorial experiences. This lingual memory manifests itself in many ways as it traverses the memories of each person and is therefore reciprocally transformed depending on the way it is perceived.
This project was part of documenta fifteen's Camp Notes on Education program, and was exhibited at Hafenstraße 76, one of its main venues in Kassel, Germany. A second activation was also held at the Nave N space of the Galería Nieves Fernández in November 2023.
